Waiawa Lane
There is a strong connection between the owner of this home and his Southland roots – and it was important that the interior reflected this. The Forté timber flooring was purposefully chosen for its heavy grain and details such as the wall batons and linings serve to tie in with the external and internal stone features. V-groove paneling on the ceiling brought in another layer of texture, as did the aged brass tapware and the natural stone used on top of the vanities in the guest bathroom. In the powder room the Rosa Calamante polished quartzite introduces a softness; excess was then used in the master wardrobe, make up zone and the girls’ wardrobes; the pinky hues toning in with the neutral shade Bremworth wool carpet. With a scullery that serves as the functional ‘back office’ housing equipment and appliances, the kitchen area was able to be more aesthetic. The cabinetry itself has a traditional vibe with a custom stained veneer timber framed profile, and rounded knobs adding a visual link to the feature pendant lighting. The island has been crafted from natural stone; the stove top area draws the eye, with its spectacular stone clad boxed out extractor fan, beneath which is a beautiful brass pot filler.
